The Inventory of Hazardous Materials

From 31 December 2021, all marine suppliers must comply with the IMO and EU rules on hazardous materials. The new rules impose obligations on shipyard, shipowners and their suppliers. After receiving a few questions from our members, we decided to gather our knowledge and experience into this Brief Guide.

When you simply read the rules, chances are it does not become very clear what you have to do. This Brief Guide aims to bring you clarity and propose some solutions. It is focused on what’s important for you, most of all filling out and handling the Material Declaration (MD) and the Supplier’s Declaration of Conformity (SDoC). You can read more about some ways to alleviate the workload and streamline your procedure. Lastly, we have also highlighted some common mistakes and included examples of the MD and SDoC for your reference.
